Your grill won’t power on.
If your Traeger grill fails to start, then some of the possible causes are a tripped GFCI on the outlet, bad power outlet, blown fuse on the back of the controller, bad extension cord, and break in the power cord.
Your grill won’t light.
If your grill powers on but doesn’t light, then this can be due to the induction fan not running or the hotrod failing to heat up. Also, your grill won’t light if no wood pellets are being fed to the firepot.
Your grill is tripping the GFCI.
When your grill repeatedly trips the outlet’s GFCI, this means that a component of the grill is bad and causing it to short out to the ground. Most often, this problem is the result of a faulty hotrod. Other possible culprits include the controller, auger motor, and induction fan.
Your grill’s fan isn’t turning.
When the induction fan isn’t running, this can be due to a lack of power from the controller to the orange wires. Also, this issue can crop up if the grease on the fan’s shaft has seized up due to a lack of use. In this case, spinning the fan a few times may solve the issue. Lastly, wires and similar obstructions can prevent the fan from spinning.
Your grill’s auger won’t move.
If the auger is jammed, which can be caused by moisture in the pellets, then this will prevent the auger from moving. A broken gear in the auger motor or a broken shear pin that attaches the auger to its motor can also cause this problem. Finally, the auger won’t move if it isn’t getting power from the controller to the red wires.
