Drought Tolerant Fruit Trees
Fruit trees listed bellow all hold up well under dry conditions once established but need to be watered adequately as newly planted trees. Newly planted trees can be hand watered with a soft spray hose attachment . Water in the evening in to the night will help reduce water evaporation. When watering your fruit tree keep in mind each environment is different, it is important to check your plants to learn what they need. Watering practices may vary due to temperature changes. A moisture meter can be used to check moister at the roots. Use fir or shredded redwood bark as a mulch to retain moisture. Trees listed bellow have been grown successfully with quality fruit in the San Jose area, but do need infrequent water once established.
